Registration Made Easy
Welcome Center at NEISD provides invaluable support as refugee and asylee families enroll their children into our schools for the first time. We understand this can be an overwhelming process and our caring staff is here to guide families every step of the way, from paperwork to placement testing. We take time to explain important policies, procedures, and resources so families feel fully prepared.
Our goal is for everyone to feel welcomed, understood, and equipped to succeed during the registration process and beyond. When you arrive at Welcome Center, you can expect individualized assistance as well as a sense of belonging to the NEISD community. We look forward to embracing your family into our community and launching your child’s education journey.
Supporting you every step of the way
Our goal is to make the registration and transition process smooth so your family feels welcomed and connected. We provide personalized assistance including:
Guidance navigating the registration process and getting started in the district.
An introduction to important district policies and procedures (calendars, hours, discipline, etc.).
Support in completing required registration forms (lunch, transportation, health, code of conduct, emergency info).
Answering any questions and ensuring you have the information you need.
Assessment Preparation
We look forward to welcoming your child and setting them up for success!
Appointments Include:
- An overview of school, district, and community resources
- English language proficiency assessment test
- A review of international transcripts (Grades 9-12)
What to Expect:
- Appointment duration is approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours
- Duration varies based on number of children, grade level, and testing sessions
