Through the Welcome Center and the Tobin partnership, our students have access to hands-on learning and experiences. While working with artists, Welcome Center students are taught how to express oneself through arts. One example is our elementary students creating puppets to share their story in a safe space. For many students, the transition to our community begins with the early stages of language development, therefore the puppets are an outlet of expression to have their voices heard and their stories. With exposure to various arts, our Welcome Center student body is able to embody their knowledge and express themselves to ensure a sense of belonging at NEISD.
